Age Concern Sheffield says ‘Cut cake not care!’
In his emergency budget on 22 June, the Chancellor announced that budgets for public services, such as care services, could be cut by up to 25 per cent. The Chancellor will reveal how much each budget will be cut by in his Comprehensive Spending Review announcement on Wednesday 20 October.
In the run up to the Comprehensive Spending Review, we are urging everyone to contact their MP, calling on them to 'cut cake not care'. Our vital care services are already starved of funding - any cuts made will result in thousands of older people losing vital care services. Today, thousands of us are struggling to get the care we need, either for ourselves or for our loved ones. We can’t afford to let the situation get any worse.
It is important that as many MPs as possible are challenged to ‘Cut cake not care’. The more MPs who are challenged, the greater our chance of protecting the existing care budget.
So click here to email your MP to oppose cuts to our vital care services. 02/07/2010
